Hiking is Big in the Area
The truth is that there are plenty of places to hike in this area. Within Crofton, you’ll have a few options. There’s the Linthicum Walks area. These are smaller trails that anyone can walk across. You don’t have to be an avid hiker to be able to enjoy this spot. It’s great to just come out with the family and enjoy being outdoors. As mentioned, this is one of the main ideas that were in place when the Crofton community was created. Allowing locals to escape the big city life for one that was closer to nature.
Now, if you want to go on a more extensive hiking adventure, the Cofton Woods area may be a better fit. There are about five different spots within the city limits where you can enjoy this activity. This may not be one of those top attractions in Crafton that’s fit for everyone. Yet, we felt it was certainly worth mentioning. We’re staying outdoors for this one! As mentioned, the community was designed for people who wanted to live closer to nature. One of the things that you can also enjoy outdoors is golf. The Walden and Crofton Country Clubs are the two main golfing destinations within the city limits. Each club features its own set of benefits. Many of the local social events take place at the clubs themselves, so they are a bit more than just a golf course.
As is the case with any golfing facilities in this part of the country, you want to make sure that you check the operating seasons for the golf course. It’s hard to tee it up and walk across the fairway when you have to plow through a considerable amount of snow. During some of the warmer months of the year, however, hitting the links is always a great idea. Without a doubt, these courses have to be included as some of the top attractions in Crofton.
Dining Experiences
Take a stroll down Defense Hwy and find a spot that you like! There are plenty of local restaurants in this area that you can enjoy. We don’t want to be biased with the recommendations here, but you are in Maryland. Therefore, it’s a good idea to head to any of the crab shacks! That’s where you’re really going to be able to get a taste of the true local cuisine.
There are a few Fat Boys crab shacks around town, and you’ll find more spots on the aforementioned Defense Hwy. If you don’t know exactly what you’re in the mood for, this is the place to look. It’s a bit like scrolling through your Uber Eats app but in real life. This area is one of the top attractions in Crofton, even though it may not seem like much to some outsiders.
Spend a Day in DC or Baltimore
To this point, we’ve avoided talking about one of the obvious top attractions in Crofton. It’s not that obvious because these attractions are not within the city limits, of course. However, one of the biggest benefits of living or even staying in this area is that you can have the best of both worlds, as we’ve alluded to. It’s true that a lot of the attractions within Crofton offer a bit of small-town fun. Also, most of them are outdoors, and that’s not ideal for a lot of people.
If you drive to DC or the Baltimore area, however, you can experience big city life. Of course, in DC, you take in all the sights from the nation’s capital. In Baltimore, there are amusement parks, and you’ve got local sports teams that you can enjoy as well. Each city is about a 40-minute drive from Crofton. It’s not like you have to spend your entire day on the road to reach each spot. This mix of small-town America and the big city is another element that’s great about Crofton!
